We want the best for our family, but it does seem that the costs of basic necessities is leaving us less discresinary income. You may also be having difficulty getting quality care for your children. Every mom, myself included, has shed a few tears when you had to leave the kids in a less than suitable situation. I was very lucky, I had to do this with only one provider , but that was enough.
We each have our reasons for wanting to be independent. Maybe, you would like to travel more, have a flexible schedule, more freedom of thought and action, or just stay home to be there for your family .
Please understand, I am not implying that you can start a business for $50 and become an instant success with no personal sacrfice. When ‘the hype guys’ tell you that, you had better start running or be prepared for a big disappointment. As one leader once said, this business is networking, not netwatch TV.
First of all, you have to decide what you want in a business-how technical do you want to get and where do you want to go and how fast. Is your partner with you ? If not, it will be much more difficult. If you are a single Mom, your time management skills will have to be top notch-they usually are to start with anyway. If you are planning to work mostly online that will be easier for you. If you are planning to travel, even a 50 mile radius of your home, you will have to be more organized.
You will also have to spend time initially getting familiar with your product line. For example, if you decided you wanted to market Young Living Essential Oils, you will study a lot more than if you wish to promote JavaFit Coffee. However, if you really love essential oils and don’t like coffee, you may choose to offer the oils, but start with the basics and learn from there. I love the Young Living Oils. They are so powerful, almost more than anything else on earth. You could study a lifetime and still not know all there is to know. Even Gary Young himself, studies and learns every day. It is a fascinating business and Young Living Oils are the purest and best. However, I am off topic somewhat here.
There are hundreds, if not thousands, of home based companies, networking and other. These companies, like any other business will have eithics to varying degrees. Some compensation plans are an absolute disgrace to basic intelegence. Many are very fair and balanced. Every company and every person has to make a profit but you must be sure that the compensation is there if you work for it.
I have learned that a company must have 3 key components-a product that is top quality and unique, people at the top who are ethical and fair and a plan that offers compensation for efforts expended. If one of those things is missing, it is just like a 3 legged stool-it topples very quickly.
